Planning a wedding shower can be a tricky task. Of course you want to make it a day to remember for the bride-to-be, because after all, it’s a day to celebrate her! Before the day of the shower, create a list of items that you would generally find in someone’s purse. Remember to add common items (like keys, credit cards, lip gloss etc.) and more obscure items (like a movie ticket, floss, a hairbrush etc.). When it’s time to play the game, call out the items from the list and have the guests try to find that item as fast as they can in their purse. The first person to pull that item out of their purse earns a point. The person with the most points at the end wins. This is a great game played either individually or in teams.

2. Who said that?

This is a game to see how well the guests know the bride and groom. Before the shower, have the bride and groom tell you their love story (separately of course)! Write their answers down in point form, mixing up the bride and groom’s answers. Print out copies of their answers and have each guest try to guess who said what. Make sure you’re choosing statements that either of them could have said (i.e. the first thing I noticed about him/her was).

3. Which one is a lie?

This is a great game to use as an icebreaker to start off the wedding shower. Go around the room and have the guests introduce themselves one at a time, telling three different experiences they’ve had with the bride (one of which is a lie). The person who can correctly pick out the lie earns a point. The guest with the most points at the end wins.

Make a list of questions for the groom about himself, the bride and their relationship (i.e. when was your first kiss? What’s the first movie you saw together?). A few days before the bridal shower, ask the groom your questions, recording the answers on paper or for a more interactive approach, videotaping for viewing at the shower. On the day of the shower, ask the bride the same questions and see if she answers correctly.

Start with a poster sized picture of the groom (can be printed at your local copy/print shop) and give each guest a faux wedding ring (a sticker would be ideal but a plastic ring will work just fine)! Taking turns, each guest is blindfolded, spun around and pointed in the direction of the picture. They must try to pin the ring on the groom as close as they can to his finger. The one closest to the finger wins!

6. How old am I?

A few days before the wedding shower, ask the parents of the bride and groom for pictures from their childhood, ranging in age from baby to teenager. Number the pictures and place them around the room. Give each guest a sheet with a numbered list where they can guess what age the bride and groom were in each picture. The guest with the most correct answers wins a small prize.

7. Trip down memory lane

This one tests the memory skills of the bride! At some point during the shower, have each guest write down a personal memory they have with the bride (anonymously of course) on a piece of paper. Once all the guests have completed their memory, have the bride read each one out loud and try to guess whose memory it is. If the bride guesses incorrectly, the guest gets a prize!
